Answers to commonly asked questions:
Q - How many flushes can one filter element cartridge handle before it needs to be replaced?
A - One filter element cartridge can be used multiple times. To maintain high water quality, we recommend replacement after three complete main drain flushes or the equivalent.
Q - Can the filter element cartridge be cleaned and re-used?
A - Unfortunately, no. The heavy metals and sediment particulates are actually embedded into the cartridge, and therefore it cannot be re-used.
Q - How do I dispose of the spent filter element cartridges?
A - You can throw them away in a typical trash can.
Q - Can I use another cartridge filter brand?
A - The EcoSmart filter cartridge has been carefully designed for fire sprinkler discharge. No other filter fits with the EcoSmart filter vessel.
Q - Can the EcoSmart Filter cart be used for new underground installation flushing?
A - No. The EcoSmart is not designed to handle the flow rate of a four-inch or greater pipe size.
Q - Can the EcoSmart filter be used in fire pump and fire hydrant flow tests?
A - No. The high flow rate of a fire pump or fire hydrant would overwhelm the EcoSmart filter.
Q - What is the flow rate of the EcoSmart Filter?
A - The EcoSmart can handle 50 GPM.
Q - What is the maximum pressure for the EcoSmart Filter?
A - The EcoSmart can handle a maximum pressure of 150 PSI.
Q - What is the pressure loss with the basket strainer?
A - The pressure loss is minimal. The EcoSmart provides an over-the top flow path and large open area ratio. The straining capacity is at least six times that of the connecting pipe.
